Call for flourishing tourism sector to strengthen economy


 
RANGPUR, Sept 27, 2023 (BSS)-Speakers at a discussion today called for flourishing huge potential of the tourism sector to further strengthen the national economy and accelerate development for building a developed Bangladesh.
 
They expressed the view in the post-rally discussion marking the World Tourism Day- 2023 at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner with the theme of 'Tourism and Green Investments' in the city.
 
The district administration in association with Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and Rangpur Parjatan Motel organised the rally, discussion, competitions on essay writing and drawing for children and prize distribution to celebrate the day.
 
Earlier, the rally led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mobasswer Hasan and participated by the students, teachers, rovers, scouts, youths, officials and employees and civil society members, was brought out on the main city streets.
 
The DC as the chief guest inaugurated the celebrations by releasing balloons followed by leading the rally and attending the discussion presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) AWM Raihan Shah.
 
Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin and Finance) Md Tarikul Islam, Inspector of Rangpur Tourist Police Md Mostafizur Rahman and Manager of Rangpur Parjatan Motel Syeed Salem Sheikh addressed the discussion as special guests.
 
Salem Sheikh discussed prevailing incredible potentials in the country’s tourism sector and steps taken by the present government to explore those for accelerating economic advancement of the nation.
 
The chief guest stressed on proper flourishing of potentials prevailing in the places with historical interests, sea beaches, archaeological sites and tourist spots across the country to attract travelers from home and abroad and create huge jobs.
 
The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is implementing various pragmatic initiatives to create a congenial atmosphere for flourishing the prospective tourism sector.
 
“We have to encourage investments in the tourism sector and colorfully decorate the tourist spots and highlight the importance of tourism to make people interested in tourism and encourage investors and authorities concerned in promoting tourism,” he said.
