CHANDPUR, Aug 02, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his father in Shahrasti Upazila of the district in 2020.

Senior District and Session Judge Md Mohsinul Haque delivered the verdict to Imran Hossain Akbar, 40, hailed from Shetinarayanpur village in the Upazila.

The court also fined him Taka 10,000, and in default, he has to serve three more months in prison.

According to the prosecution on January 19 in 2020 Imran hacked his father Cherag Ali to death at their house over family feud. Following the murder, Imran's brother filed a case with the police station concerned on that day. Police pressed the charge sheet on November 2 in 2021.

Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court handed down the verdict in presence of Imran Hossain, said Public Prosecutor Ranojit Rai Chowdhury.
