NARSINGDI, April 21, 2023 (BSS)- One person was killed and 30 others were injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in front of Karachar Boishakhi Spinning Mill area under Shibpur upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 22, son of Samsur Miah, resident of Kishoreganj district. He was a worker of Fakir Cotton Mill in Rupganj upazila.

The accident occurred in the area when a passenger bus of 'Mayer Doa Paribahan' from Dhaka to Kishoreganj collided head-on with another passenger minibus of 'Al Ghazzali' coming from the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, another pickup van chicken-loaded hit the two vehicles involved in the accident around 7am, leaving 31 people were injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Itakhola Highway Police Outpost Noor Haidar said.

Later, the injured were rescued and sent to Narsingdi 100-bed Hospital, where Monir Hossain succumbed to his injuries, he said.

Traffic congestion on the both side of the road normalised due to removal of the accident affected vehicles, he added.
