DHAKA, July 20, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has invited feedback, suggestions and objections from stakeholders and the general public on the draft Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Margin) Rules, 2025, as part of the mandatory legal process for finalising the new regulations.
In a press release issued today, the BSEC said a public notice inviting feedback on the draft rules has been published on the commission's official website as well as in several national newspapers, including Amar Desh, Share Biz, and The Business Standard.
According to the notice, stakeholders and interested parties have been requested to submit their opinions directly to the commission within two weeks from the date of publication.
BSEC mentioned that seeking public opinion is a routine and mandatory legal requirement before formulating or amending any rules.
The consultation is being conducted in line with the provisions of the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, 1969, and the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993, to ensure transparency and inclusiveness in the rule-making process.
The proposed rules are aimed at modernising the existing regulatory framework in line with the current market environment.
The draft seeks to simplify the existing margin rules, make them more practical and user-friendly, ensure their effectiveness in the prevailing market conditions, strengthen investor protection and support the sustainable development and long-term stability of the country's capital market.
The commission stressed that the published document is only a draft proposal and does not represent the final regulation.
It also urged investors and market participants not to be misled by rumours or misinformation, saying there is no reason for panic or confusion over the proposed amendments.
After the two-week consultation period, the commission will review all opinions received and incorporate necessary revisions, additions and refinements before finalising the rules for publication in the official gazette.
The BSEC expressed hope that stakeholders would provide constructive recommendations to help develop a stronger and more effective regulatory framework for the capital market.
It also called upon the media to disseminate accurate information about the draft rules to prevent unnecessary confusion among investors.
