Stocks maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 8.09 points or 0.13 per cent to settle at 6,244.17. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.13 points to finish at 2,094.26 and 1.79 point closing at 1,362.81.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 3,444.59 million on the country's premier bourse which was Taka 2,921.42 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 318 issues traded, 108 closed green, 33 in the red and 177 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

SEAPEARL topped the turnover chart, followed by BDTHAI, OAL, YPL and ORIONINFU.
 
Rupali Bank was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 7.41 per cent while DESHBANDHU was the worst loser, losing 3.16 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -advancing 5.23 points to settle at 18,508.54 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX gaining 3.16 points to close at 11,068.59.

Of the issues traded, 37 advanced, 46 declined and 96 remained unchanged on the CSE.
