Tipu for removing red tape to increase export

DHAKA, Nov 09, 2023 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today laid emphasis on removing red tape to expand trade and business and increase export earnings.

"Now, Bangladesh's rank is in the first position for denim and second for readymade garments in the world. To ensure better service, red tape must be removed. Harassment in service delivery is not acceptable in any way," he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a programme marking the foundation stone laying of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Bhaban at Agargaon area in the city, said a press release.

Tipu laid emphasis on finding new markets to achieve the export targets set for 2030 and 2041.

"There are many potential sectors to increase exports. The country has a wide variety of exportable products. Exploiting them requires making the right decision at the right time," he added.

Senior Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Tapan Kanti Gosh and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Mahbubul Alam spoke on the occasion as special guests while EPB Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan presided over it.
