100pc Ropa Aman farming target achieved in Khulna agri-zone

KHULNA, Nov 26, 2023 (BSS) - Over 100 percent of the target of cultivating

Ropa Aman paddy has been achieved in the Khulna agriculture region this
season, an official said today.

The DAE fixed a plantation target of 2,97,293 hectares of land with a
production target of 12,56,127 metric tons of paddy and 8,37,418 metric tons
of clean rice in Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Narail in the region, said
Mohon Kumar Ghosh, Additional Director of Department of Agricultural
Extension (DAE) in Khulna region to BSS.

The government has already given over Tk 2.33 crore to 33,600 farmers as
incentives with a view to increasing the production of Ropa Amon.

In the Khulna agricultural zone, the average yield is fixed at 4.23 metric
tonnes of Ropa Aman paddy and 2.82 metric tonnes of clean rice

"Farmers have cultivated Aman rice on 2,99,429 hectares of land, which
exceeds by 2,136 hectares of land or 100.7 percent against the fixed farming
target," he said.

In Khulna district, 94,790 hectares of land have been cultivated against the
farming target of 93,185 hectares with a production target of 4,13,539.5
metric tonnes of paddy and 2,75,693 metric tonnes of clean rice.

In Bagerhat district, 73,186 hectares of land has been cultivated against the
farming target of 73,096 hectares of land with a production target of
2,74,432.5 metric tonnes of paddy and 1,82,955 metric tonnes of clean rice.

In Satkhira district, 88,768 hectares of land have been cultivated against
the farming target of 88,750 hectares with a production target of 3,78,885
metric tonnes paddy and 2,52,590 metric tonnes of clean rice.

In Narail district, 42,685 hectares of land have been cultivated against the
farming target of 42,262 hectares of land with a production target of
1,89,270 metric tonnes paddy and 1,26,180 metric tonnes of clean rice.

He said the government has given incentives to the farmers. They are
enthusiastically farming the fallow land, as such bumper yield and production
have also improved. Fertilizers are used in a balanced way.

Due to favourable weather and proper monitoring, cultivation of fallow land
have led to bumper production, he added.
