DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Women's team is guaranteed at least US$247,500 (around Tk 3.5 crore) following the ICC's announcement of record prize money for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup.
The total prize pool for the tournament has been set at $8,764,615 (approximately Tk 108 crore), reflecting a 10 percent increase from the 2024 edition, which featured 10 teams and a prize fund of $7,958,077. The upcoming event will involve 12 teams for the first time.
Under the revised structure, champions will receive $2,340,000 (over Tk 288 million), while runners-up will earn $1,170,000 (over Tk 144 million). Each losing semi-finalist will take home $675,000. In addition, teams will earn $31,154 for every group-stage victory.
Even without registering a win, each participating side is assured a minimum of $247,500 (around Tk 3.5 crore), meaning Bangladesh are guaranteed the amount upon qualification.
ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta said the record prize structure highlights the rapid growth of women's cricket and the governing body's continued investment in the women's game.
"The growth of women's cricket continues to accelerate, and the expansion of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup to 12 teams, combined with a record prize pool, underlines our commitment to building a stronger, more competitive global game," he said.
He added that rising investment and opportunity are increasing the global impact of women's cricket, with the tournament expected to set new benchmarks in attendance, viewership, and broader socio-cultural influence.
The 10th edition of the tournament will run from June 12 to July 5. Bangladesh, led by Nigar Sultana Joty, are placed in Group 1 alongside Australia, India, South Africa, Pakistan and the Netherlands. Their campaign will begin against the Netherlands in Birmingham on June 14.
