DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) -The Bangladesh men's team suffered a 5-1 goal
defeat to Pakistan in their crucial match of SAFF Futsal Championship held at
the Nonthaburi Stadium in Nonthaburi, Thailand today (Thursday).
With this defeat, Bangladesh eliminated from the championship race.
Bangladesh slipped to the third position in the point table with seven points
from five matches.
Pakistan, with this win, still in the race of title moving up second position
with ten points playing the same number of matches.
Maldives currently dominate the point table with 12 points from four matches.
In the proceeding, Ali Agha put Pakistan ahead in the 18th minute while Zahid
doubled the lead scoring the second goal 31st minute of the match.
Fayed Azim reduced the margin for Bangladesh in the 36th minute while Salar
Ahmed Khan scored the third goal for Pakistan in the 37th minute.
Ahid Ullah made the score line 4-1 for Pakistan in the 40th minute while Ali
Aga sealed the victor scoring his second and fifth goal for Pakistan few
seconds before the final whistle.
Earlier, Bangladesh team played to a fighting 4-4 goals draw with
India in their tournament opening match, suffered 6-1 goal defeat to Maldives
in their second match.
Bangladesh however fought back to registered a 4-1 victory over Nepal in
their third match and inflicted a massive 5-1 defeat on Sri Lanka in their
fourth match.
While Pakistan lost to Maldives 7-1, beat Bhutan 4-2, defeated Sri Lanka 5-2
and played out to a 4-4 draw with Nepal.
After Pakistan, Bangladesh will play the last match of the championship
against Nepal on Saturday (Jan 24) at the same venue.
The table toppers at the end of all seven rounds of matches will be crowned
the first-ever SAFF Men's Futsal champions.
