DHAKA, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Pacer Al Fahad claimed a five-wicket haul in a
venomous bowling show as Bangladesh Under-19 team raised a prospect of a
victory in their Youth World Cup opening game by wrapping up India for a
modest 238 in 48.4 overs at Bulawayo today.
Fahad ended with the figures of 5-38, thoroughly embarrassing Indian batters
with his nagging line and length.
After Bangladesh put India into bat first, Fahad dealt a double blow in his
just second over, dismissing Indian captain Ayush Mhatre (6) and Vedant
Trivedi for ducks in consecutive deliveries.
Iqbal Hossain Emon and captain Azizul Hakim who both picked up two wickets
apiece gave him the apt support in further keeping India at bay.
However, amid the Bangladeshi bowlers' surge, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hammered a
67 ball-72 with six fours and three sixes to keep India's scoreboard
rotating.
Emon dismissed Sooryavanshi to further keep Bangladesh's nose ahead but
Abhigyan Kundu came up with a resolute batting show to pave the platform of
taking the side past 200-run mark.
Abhigyan Kundo eventually top-scored for the side with 80 off 112, hitting
four fours and three sixes.
