DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS)-Bangladesh's senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin expressed his frustration at the fast bowler Nahid Rana's injury-
enforced absence from the upcoming Test series in Australia, saying that the young prodigy's bouncer would have been a treat to watch in Down Under.

"To be honest, I was also very excited to see Nahid Rana bowling bouncers to Australian batters, specially against Marnus Labuchagne and Steve Smith" 
Salahuddin said.

Bangladesh's preparation for the tour was hampered by injuries, with four fast bowlers and one batter currently sidelined. Nahid, however, left for 
Australia last Tuesday to undergo advanced treatment.

However, Salahuddin urged the team to focus on the resources available rather than those missing through injury.

"Since Nahid Rana is not in the tour, there is no point dwelling on it. I think the bowlers who are there can do very well if they bowl a little more 
intelligently," he said.

Despite the injury setbacks, Salahuddin remained optimistic about Bangladesh's prospects in the longer format, expressing confidence in the 
Test squad's mindset and preparation. 

"I am always optimistic about the Test team. The players are very aware of themselves, understand their goals, and they are more organized. There is no 
reason as to why they won't do well," he said.

Salahuddin also outlined his expectations for Bangladesh's Test campaign, saying strong performances in overseas fixtures combined with victories at 
home could help the team climb the rankings.

"I hope we can produce good performances in the coming away Tests. If we can also win our four home Tests, I think we can be among the top two or three 
teams," he added.
