DHAKA, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) - Muhammad Waseem struck a scintillating half-century as Rajshahi Warriors continued its winning run in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), thrashing Noakhali Express by four wickets at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
A 43 ball-59 from Soumya Sarkar steered Noakhali to 151-5 but United Arab Emirates (UAE) recruit Waseem trumped him with 35 ball-60, a knock that led Rajshahi to victory in 19 overs, with 152-6.
While Rajshahi registered their fourth victory in fifth match, the defeat was Noakhali's sixth in a row, meaning still they stayed win-less in the BPL.
Pacer Mehedi Hasan Rana, however, gave them a glimmer of hope to snap the losing streak with 3-25 in four overs as Noakhali hit back into the game after the departure of Waseem who smashed four fours and as many sixes in his fifty plus knock in the first outing for Rajshahi.
His opening partner Tanzid Hasan Tamim made 21 as the duo added 47 runs for the opening stand.
Rana and Hasan Mahmud struck in regular intervals but Ryan Burl held the nerve to sail the side home, scoring an unbeaten 19.
Put into bat first, Noakhali got a solid start with Soumya and his fellow opener Shahadat Hossain sharing 57 runs.
Ripon Mondol broke through with the wicket of Shahadat who made 30 before Rajshahi spinners stifled Noakhali batters in the slow-paced wicket.
However, after Hasan Murad, got another crucial breakthrough with the wicket of Soumya, Noakhali slowed down considerably.
Mohammad Nabi then hit a 26 ball-35 to help them go past 150 but still it was not enough to give them their first victory in the season.
