DHAKA, Jan 6, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Royals opener Adam Rossinton is on the verge of a record which no one could do in the history of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The England recruit Rossington will etch his name in the BPL record book if he could hit a half-century when his side will take on Sylhet Titans tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
A half-century in the next match would make it four in a row for him, something which so far no one in BPL history could do.
The 32-year-old Rossington was unbeaten on 60 and 73 runs in his previous two matches before he was dismissed for 58 in the last match against Rangpur Riders.
However, Rossington became the ninth batter to hit three half-centuries on the trot in the BPL history.
Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal was the first batter in BPL to touch ‘50’ in three successive innings when he played Sylhet
Royals in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2011-12 season.
Brad Hodge (Australia), Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh), Upul Tharanga (Sri Lanka), Alex Hales (England), Towhid Hridoy (Bangladesh), Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan), Usman Khan (Pakistan), Parvez Hossain Emon (Bangladesh) and Adam Rossington (England) joined the club gradually after Akmal’s feat.
Brad Hodge and Parvez Hossain Emon struck fifties in three consecutive innings in two seasons. Australia's Hodge played for Barisal Burners in the first two seasons of the BPL.
After scoring a fifty in the last match for Chattogram Kings last season, Emon had made half-century in his first two matches for Sylhet Titans in this season to make it three in a row.
