Mahmudullah’s 50 steers Rangpur to 155-5 against Dhaka

DHAKA, Jan 04, 2026 (BSS)- A fighting half-century from veteran Mahmudullah Riyad and a superb finishing act from Khushdil Shah steered Rangpur Riders to 155-5 after a top-order collapse in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) game against Dhaka Capitals at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.

Mahmudullah who was the architect of Rangpur’s victory in the previous match with a cameo, this time, hammered a 41 ball-51 runs knock, featuring seven boundaries.

Khushdil then smashed 21 ball-38 not out to take the side past 150-run mark that looked unlikely after a horrendous start.

Put into bat first, Rangpur saw the other side of the coin as their top order failed to come with the terms in the face of some disciplined Dhaka bowling.

Mohammad Saifuddin removed Kyle Mayers after he made run-a-ball-11 before Ziaur Rahman who ended with team-best 2-35, dismissed Liton Das (6) and Towhid Hridoy for duck in consecutive deliveries.

Dawid Malan who added a run-a-ball-33, put on 74-run with Mahmudullah to help the side recover from the early collapse.
Imad Wasim broke the partnership with the wicket of Malan before Taskin removed Mahmudullah, just after he reached his first fifty in the season.

But Khushdil finished it off well to give Rangpur some confidence ahead of defending the total.
