Naim, Rossington fifty leads rout of Sylhet in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) - Openers Naim Sheikh and Adam Rossington hit half-centuries as Chattogram Royals thrashed Sylhet Titans by nine wickets in their fourth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.

The victory looked imminent once Chattogram bowlers put a disciplined show to hold back Sylhet to a meager 126-7.

Naim and Rossington made the victory a cake-walk by adding 115 runs for the opening stand as Sylhet raced to the victory with 24 balls to spare, reaching 130-1.

Naim Sheikh was the only batter to be out after clobbering 52 off 37, an inning laced with four fours and three sixes. Rossington, however, left the ground after ensuring the victory as he was unbeaten on 53 ball-73, hitting eight fours and two sixes.

Mahedi Hasan and Mirza Beg scalped two wickets for Chattogram in an economical bowling show, which strangled Sylhet after they were put into bat first.

Sylhet skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a gamble to promote him to the opening spot but that didn't work as he was dismissed for 5.

Mahedi Hasan who conceded only 18 runs in his four overs then punched a killer blow by dismissing dangerman Hazratullah Zazai for 4.

Unable to gauge the pressure, created by Chattogram bowlers, the middle order fell like a pack of cards, leaving Sylhet 34-5.

Azmatullah Omarzai, however, hit 41 ball-44 to help Sylhet propel past 100 but still that was not enough to throw any stiff challenge to Chattogram.

The victory put Chattogram on top of the point table with 6 points from four match, beating Rajshahi Warriors by net-run-rate at the moment.
