DHAKA, Dec 6, 2021 (BSS) - Saif Sporting Club emerged group C champions to reach quarterfinal of the Riviera Independence Cup Football when they played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited held today held at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city's Kamalapur.

     With the day's outcome, Saif SC improved their tally with seven points from three matches while Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited also collected four points playing the same number of matches.

     In the day's match, Nigerian forward Mfon Sunday Udoh put Saif SC ahead in the 45th minute while defender Rajib Hossin restored the parity for Mohammedan SC in the 90+1st minute of the match.

    Earlier, Saif Sporting Club made a winning start in the competition beating Bangladesh Army football team by 2-1 goals in their group opening match and defeated Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 3-2 goals in the second match.

     On the other hand, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited beat Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 2-1 goals in their group opening match but they went down a 1-2 goal defeat to Army football team in their second group match.

     Tuesday's match: Abahani Limited, Dhaka vs Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society 5.45 pm at the same venue.
