DHAKA, March 28, 2024 (BSS) - Title aspirant Abahani Limited registered their eighth successive victories in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League beating Bangladesh Sporting Club by 6-2 goals in the second match of the day held at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

In the day's match, star defender Ashraful Islam scored hat-trick with three goals while Obaidul Hossain Joy, Puskar Khisa Mimo and Mohammad Abdullah supported him with a lone goal each for Abahani Limited.

Indian recruit Gurpeet Singh struck twice for Bangladesh Sporting Club.

The day's win saw, the traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited raised their tally to twenty four points from eight matches while Bangladesh Sporting Club remained at their previous collection of eight points playing the same number of matches.

Earlier, in the day's first match, Ajax Sporting Club thrashed Victoria Sporting Club by 7-3 goals also held at the same venue.
