Police eye transforming Sadar Thanas in 64 districts into 'Zero Complaint' centres

DHAKA, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - In a major administrative push to improve public service, the authorities have launched an initiative to turn all 64 Sadar Thanas (police stations) across the country's 64 districts into "Zero Complaint" delivery centers.

"This initiative marks a significant step toward modernizing the police force and ensuring that the most vital police stations in each district serve as models of accountability and public trust," Additional Inspector General of Police Khondoker Rafiqul Islam told BSS today.

The move aims to ensure zero complaints against police personnel, he also said.

The initiative is part of the government's 180-day action plan, reflecting the BNP's electoral pledges.

Talking to BSS, Additional Inspector General of Industrial Police Gazi Jashim Uddin said, "The goal of this plan is to ensure that citizens receive the highest quality of service with maximum efficiency and zero grievances".

According to the administrative action plan, several key strategies are being implemented to achieve this target.

A core focus of the initiative is ensuring proper behavior and professional conduct by police personnel when dealing with the public.

To maintain high standards, the best-performing district-level officers are being appointed to these Sadar Thanas.

The quality of service delivery is being ensured through direct supervision and constant monitoring by higher authorities.

The public is being actively encouraged to use Online GD (e-GD) services to streamline processes and reduce the need for physical complaints.

Teams are dedicated to keeping these stations under constant observation, with senior officials conducting regular reviews and visits to ensure the "Zero Complaint" status is maintained.

As part of the initiative, all service seekers visiting the headquarters police stations are being treated with the utmost courtesy, friendliness and respect.

Services are being provided with the highest priority in accordance with existing laws, rules and regulations.

All activities of the police stations, including the duty officer's room and the waiting room for service seekers, are being kept under CCTV surveillance.

Quick Response Teams are being kept ready round the clock to respond promptly to emergencies.

Female officers have also been assigned to hear and address complaints from women.

Public are being encouraged to use the online General Diary (e-GD) service, while instructions on accessing various police services have been displayed prominently inside the police stations to make services more accessible.

To ensure effective delivery of services, officers and police personnel working at the stations are being given regular guidance.

Senior police officials are also conducting regular direct supervision and inspections of the stations to monitor their activities and ensure proper service delivery.
