RANGPUR, Oct 12, 2021 (BSS) – One more Covid-19 patient of Thakurgaon died during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today raising the number of coronavirus casualties to 1,238 in Rangpur division.
“The Covid-19 situation continues improving amid a declining positivity rate and a rising recovery rate during the last two months in the division,” Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS today.
“The district-wise break up of the 1,238 fatalities currently stands at 293 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 88 in Nilphamari, 68 each in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram, 252 in Thakurgaon, 326 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of the division.
The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,151 as 10 new patients were diagnosed after testing 463 samples of Rangpur division at the daily positivity rate of 2.16 percent on Monday.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.87 percent on Sunday, 3.48 percent on Saturday, 2.47 percent on Friday, 6.11 percent on Thursday, 6.85 percent on Wednesday and 2.87 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
“The district-wise break up of total 55,151 patients include 12,431 of Rangpur, 3,790 Panchagarh, 4,430 of Nilphamari, 2,736 of Lalmonirhat, 4,633 of Kurigram, 7,575 of Thakurgaon, 14,703 of Dinajpur and 4,853 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of 2,87,366 collected samples were tested till Monday, and of them, 55,151 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.19 percent in the division.
In the meantime, the number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 52,563 since the beginning of the pandemic with recovery of 34 more infected patients on Monday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 95.31 percent.
The 52,563 recovered patients include 11,136 of Rangpur, 3,622 Panchagarh, 4,336 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,196 Thakurgaon, 14,335 in Dinajpur and 4,786 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 55,151 patients, 47 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including seven critical patients at ICU beds and four at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 52,563 patients and 1,238 deaths while 1,303 are remaining now in home isolation.
“Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 42,20,913, and among them, 18,30,309 got the second dose of the jab till Monday in the division,” Dr Islam saiud.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said the Covid-19 situation is improving consistently in Rangpur division.
He especially called upon people to abide by the health directives everywhere although the Covid-19 situation continues improving in the division as elsewhere across the country.
