50,091 Covid-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

 RANGPUR, Sept 12, 2021 (BSS) - The number of recovered Covid-19 patients
reached 50,091 with the healing of 180 more people on Saturday raising the
average recovery rate to 92.49 percent in the division.

  Health officials said the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients continues
rising amid declining number of casualties and positivity rate during the
last more than one month in the division.

  The recovered patients included 10,183 of Rangpur, 3,295 Panchagarh, 4,234
of Nilphamari, 2,541 of Lalmonirhat, 4,362 of Kurigram, 6,665 of Thakurgaon,
14,073 of Dinajpur and 4,735 of Gaibandha districts.

  "Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,160 with the diagnosis
of 76 fresh cases on Saturday in the division," Focal Person of the Covid-19
and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSSS
today.

  The 76 fresh Covid-19 cases were diagnosed after testing 885 newly
collected samples as the positivity rate is 8.59 percent on Saturday.

  Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 8.18 percent on Friday, 10.37
percent on Thursday, 7.07 percent on Wednesday, 8.46 percent on Tuesday,
11.17 percent on Monday and 9.79 percent on Sunday last in the division.

  The district-wise break up of total 54,160 patients included 12,262 of
Rangpur, 3,642 Panchagarh, 4,355 of Nilphamari, 2,715 of Lalmonirhat, 4,583
of Kurigram, 7,351 of Thakurgaon, 14,433 of Dinajpur and 4,819 of Gaibandha.

   Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of
2,66,124 collected samples were tested till Saturday, and of them, 54,160
were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 20.35 percent
here.

  "Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of casualties reached
1,218 as one new death was reported from Lalmonirhat district during the last
24 hours ending at 8 am today," he said.

   The district-wise break up of the 1,218 fatalities stands at 290 in
Rangpur, 79 in Panchagarh, 87 in Nilphamari, 65 in Lalmonirhat, 66 in
Kurigram, 246 in Thakurgaon, 322 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha.

  "The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.25 percent in the
division," Dr Islam said.

  Among the 54,160 patients, 123 are undergoing treatments at isolation
units, including 13 critical patients at ICU beds and seven at High
Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 50,091 patients and 1,218 deaths
while 2,728 are remaining now in home isolation.

  "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 22,53,824, and among them, 13,46,551 got the second dose of
the jab till Saturday in the division," Dr Islam added.

   Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu
expressed his satisfaction cautiously over the improving Covid-19 situation.

   "Common people should sincerely abide by the health directives to prevent
further spread of the deadly virus despite constant improving of Covid-19
situation in the division," he added.
