DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today called poultry farmers to boost the production of eggs and meat to keep their prices at reasonable levels.

"Quality must be ensured while increasing the production of egg and meat. We have to move forward by balancing the issue so that farmers get fair prices and ordinary people can buy quality-eggs and meat at affordable prices," he said.

The state minister said this while addressing as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting at the conference room of the ministry today.

Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) organised the meeting.

He said increasing the production of eggs and chicken meat would boost market supply and would allow keeping prices at reasonable levels.

Unnecessary use of antibiotics in the poultry sector must be stopped, while the quality of eggs, meat and poultry feed must be ensured through regular testing and monitoring, he added.

He stressed grassroots level views-exchange with farmers to understand the actual problems and potential of the poultry sector.

"The government would continue providing necessary policy and administrative support for the development of the poultry sector to meet the nutritional needs of the people and ensure a safe and quality supply of protein," he added.

Mashiur Rahman, president of the Feed Industries Association Bangladesh (FIAB) and Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC), chaired the meeting.
