DHAKA Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested four people and recovered two firearms, nine rounds of ammunition and a magazine in connection with the shooting on a shop owner at Shyampur-Shanir Akhra area of the capital's Kadamtali.

"The arrested are Md Manzujurul Islam, 44, Iqbal Kalu, 32, Akalima Akter Runia, 30, and Sonia Yasmin, 43," spokesperson of the DMP's media and public relations division said here today.

He said the incident took place at Lucky Crockery Shop on Zia Sarani under Kadamtali Police Station at around 8:15pm on September 5.

Shop owner Md Aslam Khan, 38, was sitting at the shop and attending to customers when several miscreants suddenly entered and opened indiscriminate fire on him, police said.

Aslam Khan sustained gunshot injuries and later, he was subsequently sent to a hospital for treatment.

Immediately after the incident, police with the help of local people arrested Manzujurul Islam from the spot and recovered a pistol, a revolver, nine rounds bullets and a magazine from his possession.

Police submitted charge sheets against arrested accused Manzujurul Islam in two separate cases-one filed with Banani Police Station for preparation to commit robbery and another with Demra Police Station for theft. 

Another accused, Iqbal Kalu, has been facing a case, which was filed with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
