DMP files 2,009 cases for traffic law violations in city

DHAKA, Sept 03, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,009 cases against traffic law violators during the last 24 hours in the capital.

According to DMP media and public relations division press release issued here today saying that during the drives, a total of 497 vehicles were dumped and 294 vehicles were towed. 

It said, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 157 cases, including against 24 buses, one truck, seven covered vans, 10 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 48 motorcycles. 

The Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 171 cases, including against 14 buses, 15 trucks, three covered vans, 13 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 88 motorcycles, while the Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 333 cases, including against 32 buses, two trucks, 16 covered vans, 66 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 168 motorcycles, it said.

The release said the Traffic-Wari Division filed 372 cases, including against 46 buses, 36 trucks, 34 covered vans, 47 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 116 motorcycles and the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 165 cases, including against 11 buses, five trucks, 12 covered vans, 19 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 71 motorcycles.

Apart from this, it said Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 311 cases, including against 17 buses, 12 trucks, 32 covered vans, 28 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 168 motorcycles and the Traffic-Uttara Division filed 321 cases, including against 45 buses, eight trucks, 19 covered vans, 17 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 124 motorcycles.

The DMP said the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 179 cases, including against 22 buses, four trucks, six covered vans, nine CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 63 motorcycles.

It said that the DMP's traffic enforcement drives would continue across the capital to ensure traffic discipline.
