BGB seizes contraband worth Tk 2.48 lakh in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian cough syrup and mobile phone parts worth Taka 2.48 lakh in separate anti-smuggling drives along the Satkhira border.

Patrol teams of Padmashakhra and Kushkhali Border Outposts (BOPs) under Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) conducted the drives in their respective areas on September 1, said a BGB press release today.

A special team of Padmashakhra BOP seized Indian Wincerex cough syrup worth Taka 38,000 from Rob Chairman's intersection, about one kilometre inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar No. 1.

Meanwhile, a Kushkhali BOP team seized Indian mobile phone parts worth Taka 2.10 lakh from Amtali, around 500 yards inside Bangladesh from Main Pillar No. 12.

The seized goods, worth Taka 2.48 lakh in total, were being smuggled into Bangladesh from India by evading customs duties and taxes, added the release.

The paramilitary force said such smuggling harms local industries and deprives the country of revenue but anti-smuggling operations would continue to curb such activities.
