BGB seizes smuggled goods in five separate border drives

DHAKA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian narcotics, liquor, timber, cattle and other smuggled goods in five separate drives along different border areas today.

The seizures were made during separate operations, according to press releases issued by the paramilitary force here this afternoon.

In Rajshahi, personnel of Rajshahi Battalion (1 BGB) conducted two drives and seized 46 bottles of Indian liquor and 85 bottles of Indian Eskuf syrup, valued at Taka 69,000 and Taka 34,000 respectively.

In Feni, personnel of Feni Battalion (4 BGB) seized 30.5 kilograms of Indian cannabis during a special operation in the Chhagalnaiya border area.

In Sylhet, personnel of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) conducted separate drives in the Banglabazar, Sonalichhara, Bichnakandi and Sonarhat BOP areas and seized Indian cattle and liquor, along with a boat carrying goods allegedly being smuggled out of Bangladesh. The seized goods were valued at around Taka 4.68 lakh.

In Rangamati's Marishya Battalion (27 BGB) seized 185.94 cubic feet of teak timber abandoned in the Boradam area along the Marishya border. The timber was valued at Taka 8, 36,730.

Meanwhile, In Jashore, personnel of Jashore Battalion (49 BGB) seized 53 Indian sarees, two blankets, six bed sheets, five packets of fuchka, 500 grams of raisins and 198 cosmetic items worth Taka 5,81,800.

BGB authorities said intelligence operations and anti-smuggling drives would continue along the borders to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling, the releases added.
