RAJSHAHI, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS) - More than 300 birds were released on Kalidaskhali char in Bagha upazila of the district on Wednesday to help restore biodiversity.

Rajshahi District Chhatra Dal Convener SM Salauddin Ahmed Shamim Sarkar and local BNP leaders rescued the birds from hunter Sujan Ali and released them into the wild.

Sujan Ali had been catching birds and selling them in different areas for a long time. Shamim Sarkar also provided him with financial assistance to help him change his profession and seek alternative employment.

Bagha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Taki Faisal Talukder appreciated the initiative and urged everyone to come forward for such humanitarian and biodiversity conservation activities.
