CHATTOGRAM, August 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Coast Guard confiscated two cargo boats carrying 1,000 sacks of cement and 280 sacks of chemical fertilizer allegedly being smuggled.
Six persons allegedly involved in the smuggling operation were apprehended. The special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Outpost Patenga from Wednesday afternoon until night following intelligence reports.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, Coast Guard media officer, said this morning that the two suspicious cargo boats were inspected in the area, resulting in the seizure of 1,000 sacks of cement valued at approximately Tk 15 lakh, along with 280 sacks of chemical fertilizer and the two boats allegedly used to smuggle the goods to Myanmar.
Legal proceedings are underway regarding the confiscated goods, the boats used in the alleged smuggling operation and the six arrested individuals.
