DHAKA, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 560 people were arrested and 46 cases filed in the past 24 hours as Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted regular anti-crime operations across the capital.

According to a DMP press release, the arrests were made by different divisions of the metropolitan police. 

Mirpur Division made the highest number of arrests with 146, followed by Tejgaon Division with 92 and Uttara Division with 74, it said.

The DMP said Ramna Division arrested 45 people, Lalbagh Division 30, Motijheel Division 63, Wari Division 54, Gulshan 52 and Detective Branch (DB) four.

It said during the operations, police rescued a victim and recovered 14,678 yaba tablets, 2.50 kg of cannabis, 21 litres of locally manufactured liquor, five mobile phone sets.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
