DHAKA, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - Police today arrested death row convict Md. Sohel Rana alias Kalu, 40, from the capital’s Mirpur area.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division Niaz Mahmud said, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at Kallyanpur Slum No. 8 at around 1pm and arrested Sohel Rana.

He was wanted in connection with a murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station, in which a court had sentenced him to death.

Legal proceedings against the arrested convict are underway, the ADC said.
