KHULNA, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 285 young job seekers received appointment letters on the spot at a day-long job fair held in Khulna, offering a significant boost to employment opportunities for local youths.

Titled "Job Fair-2026," the event was organised at the conference hall of CSS Home Technical Institute in Gallamari, Khulna city on Tuesday to connect job seekers with employers, promote youth employment and help develop a skilled workforce.

More than 800 young job seekers from different areas took part in the fair, where representatives of 20 renowned recruiting companies conducted interviews and selected candidates. Following the interviews, 285 successful applicants were handed appointment letters on the same day.

The fair was jointly organised by Khulna City Area Development Programme, World Vision Bangladesh, CSS Home Technical Institute, Asia Technical Training Centre and the Department of Youth Development, Khulna.

Speaking as the chief guest, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju stressed the need to equip young people with skills and make them self-reliant. He praised the organisers for arranging the initiative and creating a direct platform for job seekers and employers.

"There is no alternative to creating employment opportunities to build a self-reliant society both economically and socially," he said.

The KCC administrator said the government is working to create new employment opportunities across the country over the next five years, with particular emphasis on industrialisation to generate jobs for young people.

He also said the government is placing importance not only on employment generation but also on expanding educational opportunities.

The organisers described the immediate recruitment of 285 qualified candidates as a major achievement of the fair. Speakers said such employment fairs can play an important role in narrowing the gap between employers and prospective employees in an increasingly competitive job market.

They expressed hope that similar initiatives would be organised regularly to help more young people enter the workforce.

CSS Director of Education David Thomas Gomes delivered the welcome address, while World Vision Bangladesh Area Development Programme Manager Surabhi Biswas outlined the objectives of the fair and briefed the participants on the 20 participating recruiting organisations.

From 11am to 2pm, participating companies operated individual booths where they collected CVs and interviewed job seekers.

The newly recruited youths expressed happiness after receiving their appointment letters. Later, KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju formally handed over the letters to the successful candidates.
