Muhammad Abdul Muhith appointed as Bangladesh envoy to Britain

DHAKA, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - The government has appointed Foreign Service Academy Rector Muhammad Abdul Muhith as Bangladesh's next High Commissioner to the United Kingdom for a two-year term.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification confirming his contractual appointment.

A career diplomat with more than three decades of experience, Muhith has served Bangladesh in various capacities at home and abroad, with assignments spanning New York, Vienna, Washington, DC, and several key Middle Eastern and European capitals.

His diplomatic career has particularly focused on multilateral diplomacy, United Nations governance, sustainable development, peacebuilding and institutional reform.

Muhith previously served as Bangladesh's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

Prior to his latest appointment, he has been serving as Rector of the Foreign Service Academy.
