DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 440 people were arrested and 46 cases were filed during regular anti-crime drives conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) across the capital over the last 24 hours.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP Media and Public Relations Division, Niaz Mehedi, disclosed the information in a press release here today.
According to the press release, 29 were arrested from Ramna Division, 45 from Lalbagh, 50 from Wari, 36 from Motijheel, 67 from Tejgaon, 127 from Mirpur, 31 from Gulshan, 50 from Uttara and five by the Detective Branch (DB).
During the drives, police recovered one foreign pistol, one magazine, six rounds of ammunition, one sword, one knife, one grenade, 12.5 kilograms of cannabis, 39,127 pieces of yaba tablets, 3.2 grams of powdered yaba, one motorcycle, nine mobile phones, Taka 3,000 in cash and rescued two victims.
The arrests and recoveries were made during the operations conducted in different police station areas of the capital.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, police said.
