RMP stands by family of July martyr Sakib Anjum

RAJSHAHI, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS)- Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir has assured all necessary legal and security support to the family of July Martyr Sakib Anjum.

During a courtesy visit to the martyr's family on Wednesday evening, the Police Commissioner met Sakib's parents and listened to their concerns.

Sakib Anjum was killed on August 5, 2024, after being shot during the anti-discrimination movement in the Alupatti area of Rajshahi city.

Faizul Kabir assured the family that RMP would provide all necessary assistance in the legal proceedings once the investigation report in the murder case is submitted.

He also pledged full cooperation in resolving the family's ongoing legal dispute with neighbouring residents over their ancestral homestead.

To ensure the family's safety, the Commissioner directed the officer-in-charge of the local police station to maintain round-the-clock police surveillance around their residence.

Family members of the slain Sakib expressed gratitude for the Commissioner's visit and appreciated the role of the RMP in swiftly completing the murder investigation, maintaining regular communication with them, and extending continued support.

Among others present during the visit were RMP Deputy Police Commissioner (CTTC) and spokesperson Gaziur Rahman, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Nasid Farhad, Assistant Police Commissioner Arzina Khatun, Traffic Inspector Noman, and Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Model Police Station Masuma Mustari.
