RAJSHAHI, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - July Mass Uprising Day-2026 was observed in Rajshahi today with due dignity through the placing of wreaths, prayers and remembrance of the martyrs.
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu along with other officials and family members of July martyrs paid tribute at the July Shaheed Memorial at C&B Crossing in the city.
Special prayers and munajat were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs, recovery of the injured and the country's continued peace and prosperity.
Speaking on the occasion, the land minister said the government would continue to stand by the families of the July martyrs and the injured and work for their long-term rehabilitation and financial security.
Martyr Shakib Anjum's father, Md Mainul Haque, demanded speedy justice, saying those responsible for his son's killing must be brought to justice at the earliest.
Meanwhile, people from all walks of life, including representatives of political, social, cultural and professional organisations, paid homage to the July martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the memorial throughout the day.
Among others, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr A N M Bazlur Rashid, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir, DIG of Rajshahi Range Ashik Sayeed and Rajshahi Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Isha were present at the programme.
