DHAKA, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS) – Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman today inaugurated the Army International Islamic Institute (AIII) at the Jalsiri Housing Project in the capital.

He also unveiled, through video teleconference (VTC), the foundation stones of Army International Islamic Institutes to be established in Barishal, Savar, Bogura, Sylhet, Chattogram, Cumilla and Jashore, said an ISPR press release this afternoon.

The Bangladesh Army has long been contributing to the country's education sector and human resource development by establishing and managing quality educational institutions.

The ISPR said the institute has been established to integrate the Cambridge curriculum-based English-medium education with value-based learning to develop knowledgeable, ethical and competent future citizens in line with the changing needs of the time.

The institution would emerge as a centre of excellence for education and the promotion of religious and moral values, it hoped. 

Students of the institute are expected to grow into disciplined, patriotic and morally upright citizens inspired by the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah and contribute to the welfare of the nation.

The initiative is also expected to play a significant role in nurturing responsible leadership at both national and global levels, the release added.

Principal Staff Officers at the Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding of different divisions, senior military officials, distinguished persons associated with the institution, teachers, students, guardians and media representatives attended the function.
