DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat today said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is working to position Bangladesh as a competitive regional tourism destination through improved infrastructure, investment-
friendly policies and enhanced service standards.

"The hospitality industry is one of the key pillars of Bangladesh's tourism economy. The government will work industry stakeholders to attract greater domestic and international investment, improve service excellence and create a globally competitive tourism ecosystem," he said.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing the installation ceremony of the newly elected Executive Committee (2026-2028) of the Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA) as the chief guest at a city hotel this evening. 

Millat also underscored the importance of maintaining international hospitality standards, developing skilled human resources and strengthening public-private partnerships to unlock Bangladesh's vast tourism potential.

The programme, held under the theme "Celebrating Leadership, Unity , Excellence," brought together senior government officials, policymakers, hotel owners, chief executives and leading hospitality professionals from across the country.

Speaking at the event, newly elected BIHA President Nasser Rahman, MP, said the association would continue to work closely with government agencies and industry stakeholders to build a modern, sustainable and internationally competitive hospitality sector.

"As Bangladesh's hospitality landscape undergoes rapid expansion, BIHA  remains dedicated to fostering unity, elevating operational excellence and collaborating closely with key government ministries to build a sustainable, world-class tourism infrastructure," he said.

BIHA said the newly installed executive committee would prioritise stronger industry-government collaboration, promotion of sustainable tourism, encouragement of investment, workforce development and policy support to position Bangladesh as an emerging global tourism and hospitality 
destination.
