DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - The online application process for undergraduate 
admissions at Dhaka University (DU) for the 2026-2027 academic sessions will 
start at 12 noon on November 11, 2026, and will end at 11:59pm on November 
25, 2026. 

These decisions were made today at a meeting of the General Admission 
Committee held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium, 
with Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam in the chair, a DU 
press release said. 

The meeting was attended, among others, by DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr. 
Abdus Salam, Pro-VC (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Treasurer 
Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the convenor of the online admission 
committee, deans of various faculties, hall provosts, department 
chairpersons, institute directors, and other relevant officials.

Undergraduate admission tests for the 2026-2027 academic year will be 
conducted across five units-- the Arts, Law, and Social Science Unit, the 
Science Unit, the Business Studies Unit, the Fine Arts Unit, and the IBA 
Unit.

As per the scheduled timetable, the IBA Unit exam will take place on December 
5, 2026 (Saturday) from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. The Science Unit exam will be 
held on December 12, 2026 (Saturday), followed by the Arts, Law, and Social 
Science Unit exam on December 19, 2026 (Saturday). 

The Fine Arts Unit exam (General Knowledge and Drawing) will take place on 
December 22, 2026 (Tuesday), and the Business Studies Unit exam will be held 
on December 26, 2026 (Saturday). 

Except for the IBA Unit, exams for all other units will be held from 11:00am 
to 12:30pm. Apart from the Fine Arts and IBA units, admission tests for the 
remaining three units will be held across divisional centers in eight 
regions-- Dhaka, Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barishal 
University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and 
Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh and Begum Rokeya 
University, Rangpur.

The committee decided that for units other than Fine Arts and IBA, candidates 
will sit for a 60-mark MCQ test and a 40-mark written test. 

The Fine Arts Unit will feature a 40-mark MCQ test and a 60-mark drawing 
test, with 30 minutes allocated for the MCQ part and 60 minutes for drawing. 

The IBA unit exam will consist of a 70-mark MCQ section and a 30-mark 
descriptive section, allocating 90 minutes for MCQs and 30 minutes for the 
descriptive portion. For the remaining units, 45 minutes will be allocated 
for the MCQ test and 45 minutes for the written exam.

Applicants will be evaluated on a total of 120 marks, where 100 marks will 
come from the admission test and 20 marks will be based on SSC/equivalent and 
HSC/equivalent examination results.

To be eligible to apply, candidates must have passed their SSC or equivalent 
examinations between 2021 and 2024, and their HSC or equivalent examinations 
in 2026.

For the Science Unit, candidates require a minimum combined GPA of 8.0 
(including the fourth subject) across both SSC and HSC exams, with at least a 
3.5 GPA in each exam individually. 

Humanities and Business stream students applying to this unit must have a 
minimum combined GPA of 7.5, with at least a 3.0 individually. For the Arts, 
Law, and Social Science Unit, applicants require a combined GPA of 7.5 with a 
minimum of 3.0 in each exam, however, Science stream applicants must have a 
minimum combined GPA of 8.0 (minimum 3.5 individually) and Business stream 
applicants require a minimum combined GPA of 7.5 (minimum 3.0 individually). 

For the Business Studies Unit, candidates need a minimum combined GPA of 7.5 
with at least 3.0 individually; Science stream applicants to this unit 
require a combined GPA of 8.0 (minimum 3.5 individually), while Humanities 
stream applicants require a combined GPA of 7.5 (minimum 3.0 individually). 
For the Fine Arts Unit, candidates must have a minimum combined GPA of 6.5 
with at least 3.0 in each exam.

The meeting also decided to prepare separate English medium curriculum 
question papers for English medium candidates applying to the Science Unit. 
Classes for the 2026-2027 undergraduate session are set to begin on March 28, 
2027.
