DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) today filed 1,095 cases against vehicles for violating traffic 
rules in the capital.

The cases were filed as part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign 
carried out on Saturday (August 1) aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, 
reducing congestion and improving road safety across the city, according to a 
media and public relations division issued here today.

The DMP said such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging 
motorists and pedestrians alike to comply with traffic regulations to help 
maintain order on the roads.

It said that the DMP traffic police dumped 383 motor vehicles and towed 260 
vehicles during the campaign.

According to a media spokesperson of the DMP, the Traffic-Ramna Division 
filed 85 cases, including 10 against buses, one truck, one covered van, nine 
CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 34 motorcycles during the drives while
110 cases were filed by the Traffic-Lalbagh Division against seven buses, 
four trucks, two covered vans, eight CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 69 
motorcycles.

Besides, Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 212 cases, against nine buses, 12 
covered vans, 48 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 106 motorcycles while the 
Traffic-Wari Division filed 73 cases, including against 13 buses, five 
trucks, three covered vans, five CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 14 motorcycles. 

Meanwhile, the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 158 cases, including against 
nine buses, 10 covered vans, 26 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 61 motorcycles 
while the Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 167 cases, including against 12 
buses, 10 trucks, 26 covered vans, 15 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 70 
motorcycles.

In addition, the Traffic-Uttara division registered 187 cases including 
against 16 buses, six trucks, nine covered vans, 30 CNG-run auto-rickshaws 
and 72 motorcycles while the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 103 cases, 
including against six buses, three trucks, seven covered vans, 17 CNG-run 
auto-rickshaws and 34 motorcycles, the spokesperson added.

The drives were conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing efforts to enforce 
traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city's roads, the DMP release said.
