RANGPUR, August 1, 2026 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur District Police has arrested four members of a brokers’ gang on charges of attempting to cheat in the 2026 recruitment exam for the post of cadet ASI (unarmed) of Bangladesh Police. 

The DB police team also seized fake admit cards, screenshots of money transactions, mobile phones and various pieces of evidence during the drive, a press release of the Rangpur District Police Media Cell said this evening.

The release said that under the direction of Rangpur District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mozammel Haque, a special team of the DB Police conducted surveillance during the recruitment exam. 

An examinee named Ashraful Islam, 21, was first checked when he entered the face detection point at the main gate of the examination center - Rangpur Police Lines School and College. 
 
Later, during questioning, Ashraful admitted that the admit card he had was fake. 
 
At the same time, Tajmilur Rahman, 19, who had come to take the proxy exam on his behalf, was also arrested. 

During interrogation, Ashraful said that a deal was made with his father through Badsha Masud Alam, 48, and Nurul Islam, 46, who work at the Kamal Kachhna office of the Fire Service and Civil Defense, to get him a job in the police in exchange for Taka 17 lakh. 

As part of the deal, he deposited Taka 2.5 lakh in an account of Dhaka Bank from the Dinajpur branch. 

Later, a fake admit card was sent to him via WhatsApp and he tried to take part in the recruitment exam using that. 
 
Based on the information provided by Ashraful, the DB Police arrested Badsha Masud Alam from the Jahaz Company Intersection area of Rangpur city. 
 
Various information and evidences of fraudulence, financial transactions and fake admit cards were found on his mobile phone. 

During interrogation, Badsha Masud Alam claimed that Nurul Islam and two to three others were involved in this gang. 
 
Later, another member of the gang, Nurul Islam, was arrested in a drive in Dhaka with the help of the Kotwali police station of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police. 

The four arrested persons in this incident have been handed over to the Kotwali police station for further legal action. 
 
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mozammel Haque said that there is no place for any kind of irregularities, fraud or broker gangs in recruitment in the Bangladesh Police.
