DHAKA, July 08, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today showed former minister Rashed Khan Menon arrested in a case filed over alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers at Wills Little Flower School and College.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the order after police produced Menon before the court and pleaded to have him shown arrested in the case. The court later sent him back to jail.

The case was filed against Rashed Khan Menon, a former member of the school's governing body, and 19 others on December 22, 2025, over the alleged appointment of 13 teachers at Wills Little Flower School and College through irregularities and forgery.

According to the case statement, an illegal recruitment board was formed at Wills Little Flower School and College despite the fact that the special governing committee had no authority under the relevant rules to constitute such a board.

The complaint alleged that the board did not include the Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), or his representative, or subject-specific teachers as required. It also alleged that candidates were allowed to participate in the recruitment process without the National Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) certificates specified in the job advertisement.

Furthermore, the candidate who secured the highest marks in the written examination was allegedly denied the opportunity to appear in the viva voce. The complaint also stated that appointment and joining letters were issued even before the recruitment process had been completed.

Rashed Khan Menon was arrested on August 22, 2024, and has remained in jail since then.
