CHATTOGRAM, May 17, 2026 (BSS) - The newly appointed district Superintendent of Police (SP), Masud Alam, has announced a forthcoming large-scale 100-km operation by joint forces to combat terrorists in Raojan and Jungle Salimpur, Chattogram. 
 
He emphasized that the police will not be working alone in this operation, but will collaborate with other forces to ensure its success. This announcement was made during a meeting with media personnel held at the conference room of the district SP office at 11 am today.
 
SP Masud Alam highlighted combating terrorism and stopping 'target killings' as his primary challenge. He mentioned that terrorists from Raojan are infiltrating the city and carrying out targeted killings. Multiple intelligence agencies, including RAB, are actively monitoring their activities. The goal is to conduct a well-planned operation to eliminate terrorism in Raozan.
 
Additionally, SP Masud mentioned that two police academies will be established in the contentious Jungle-Salimpur area of Chattogram, following the government's decision.  
 
Recent joint operations have successfully established law enforcement presence and control in the area. Two temporary police camps are now operational, bringing the area under effective administration control.  
 
SP Masud Alam emphasized the importance of quality police service and accountability of members, acknowledging the pressure on the police force since August 5 last year. Efforts are underway at the highest government levels to boost morale within the force.
 
He warned that a zero-tolerance policy will be enforced against any officers or members who fail to address complaints, delay accepting complaints, or try to evade responsibility. 
 
For the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, strict measures will be in place to ensure the financial security of buyers and sellers at sacrificial animal markets and to prevent extortion. Special surveillance will be maintained in key areas, including highways, to allow the public to celebrate the festival without any disruptions.
