DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said the country's unbreakable bond of communal harmony would endure for ages.

"This unbreakable bond of harmony will endure for ages. We will continue to practise and nurture this bond together. That is why our national philosophy of 'Bangladeshi nationalism' embraces this spirit," he said.

Rizvi made the remarks after placing floral wreaths and paying tribute at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.

Members of the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Welfare Trusts accompanied him during the visit.

Rizvi said the country's tradition of harmony and brotherhood was deeply rooted in its soil and had helped shape Bangladesh's national identity.

"Deep within our soil lie our harmony, communal harmony and brotherhood. Through our interaction with one another, each of us has become part of a national entity," he said.

He said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman gave this national identity a philosophical form through the concept of Bangladeshi nationalism.

"Within this framework, every religious community and every ethnic group has a place. There is space for everyone, and everyone can proudly say that we are Bangladeshis," he added.

The BNP Acting Secretary General said three separate trusts had been formed for the Hindu, Christian and Buddhist communities.

"These trusts will oversee the proper management and maintenance of the temples and places of worship of the respective communities, ensuring that priests, devotees and worshippers can perform their religious activities peacefully," he said.

Noting that the chairmen, vice-chairmen and members of the trusts were highly qualified and capable individuals from their respective communities, Rizvi said they would oversee, review and manage matters related to their respective trusts.

He further said members of the Hindu, Christian and Buddhist communities hold important leadership positions within the BNP.

"They are not representatives of their respective religious communities alone; rather, they provide leadership to the entire nation within the BNP," he added.
