CTH Minister for education-recreation balance to foster nat'l progress

RANGAMATI, May 16, 2026 (BSS) -Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today said the country would advance further on the path of prosperity if students are ensured a healthy balance of education and recreation.

He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest the prize distribution ceremony of the 47th National Science and Technology Week, Science Fair, and National Science Olympiad 2026, held at the Rangamati Gymnasium Hall Auditorium.

The minister called for fostering a culture of healthy competition across the country. 

Addressing the winners, he said that students who had emerged victorious at the upazila level and reached the district stage were expected to compete at the national level and return with national honours, thereby raising the image of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

He also said that the initiatives taken by the district police-including the introduction of an online bus terminal, a digital database for CNG three-wheelers, and a traffic awareness programme-would play a significant role in strengthening law enforcement and improving transport management in the district.

He noted that the system would ensure that all transport-related data remains readily available to the administration, and commended the district police for their timely and modern initiatives.

The minister further said that the government would undertake various measures to enhance the attractiveness of the tourist town of Rangamati.

Later, he formally inaugurated the programmes at Lake View Garden area beside the main road in Rangamati town.

The ceremony was presided over by Rangamati Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Raqib and conducted by Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury.

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi, District BNP General Secretary Mamunur Rashid Mamun, and other officials were present as special guests.
