SHAISTAGANJ, Habiganj, May 16, 2026 (BSS) - Principal Information Officer (PIO)  Syed Abdal Ahmed today stressed the need for responsible journalism to effectively highlight the government’s development activities before the people.

“Implementation of the BNP government’s election manifesto has already begun . . . People are now witnessing the rollout of various programmes, including family cards, farmer cards and other initiatives, even before the ink of the election results has dried,” he told a function virtually here this morning.

The PIO was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled “Implementation of the Government’s Election Manifesto” held at the Shaistaganj Press Club auditorium here.

The seminar was organised by the Regional Information Office, Sylhet, with support from the Habiganj District Information Office.

Deputy Chief Information Officer Hasina Akter presented the keynote paper, while District Information Officer Walidur Rahman spoke as a special guest.

The PIO urged media professionals to play a constructive role in ensuring the smooth and effective implementation of the government’s development activities in line with its electoral pledges.

Among others, Shaistaganj Press Club President Moinul Hasan Ratan, General Secretary Kamrul Hasan and former President ASM Afzol Ali addressed the seminar.

Journalists from different print and electronic media outlets in Shaistaganj took part in the discussion.

During the seminar, speakers highlighted the importance of transparency in information dissemination, promotion of development initiatives and objective journalism.
