Mahbub Anam mourns death of Bangladesh-origin NASA scientist Rezaul Haque

DHAKA, May 15, 2026 (BSS) - Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dr Rezaul Haque, a Bangladesh-origin distinguished scientist of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States. 

Haque was a brother of former Posts and Telecommunications Minister and senior BNP leader late Barrister Aminul Haque, and uncle of Prime Minister's Adviser on Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad. 

In a condolence message issued today, the minister said Haque, a distinguished son of Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi, was a proud face of Bangladesh in the international arena. 

His outstanding contributions to science and research will remain a source of inspiration for the nation, said Mahbub, also the minister for post, telecommunication and information technology. 

"We have lost a talented scientist with his death," he said. 

The minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members.

Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Bilquis Jahan Rimi, Information and Communication Technology Division Secretary Quazi Anowar Hossain and Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain also mourned his death.
