DHAKA, May 14, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh-based social enterprise World Linkup has been invited to participate in the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF-13).

On this occasion, a seven-member delegation from the organization will depart from Dhaka on May 16, said a press release.

The six-day conference will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from May 17 to 22.
Policymakers from 171 countries, including heads of government, ministers, and mayors, are expected to attend the forum.

The World Linkup delegation will be led by Executive Director Masum Billah. Other members of the delegation include Afsana Mahmud, Nishat Khandaker, Faiza Farha, Mohona Haque, Tasin Khan, and Maruf Billah.

At the conference, World Linkup will showcase its innovative short film titled “Waste to Wealth: Building Resilient Cities and Communities” along with its flagship project “World Linkup Smart Waste Initiative.”

Both the short film and the project have been officially selected by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

The selected short film highlights how innovative waste management solutions can help protect the environment.

Recognition of the film by UN-Habitat is not only a significant achievement for World Linkup but also an important milestone for Bangladesh.

It presents a meaningful opportunity to showcase Bangladesh’s climate leadership and innovative capacity on the global stage.

Through the World Linkup Smart Waste Initiative, the organization aims to bring approximately 30 million tons of organic waste annually under a reusable waste management system and reduce nearly 148,000 tons of carbon emissions.

The initiative is committed to building resilient cities and communities through youth leadership, climate action, and sustainable urban development.
