DHAKA, May 14, 2026 (BSS) –A new body named Television Editors Council has been formed comprising editors and news heads of private television channels in the country with the aim of enhancing professional standards in journalism and strengthening mutual cooperation among media professionals.

Banglavision Chief Editor Dr. Abdul Hai Siddique has been elected Convener of the council while Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Somoy TV Jubayer Babu has been made Member Secretary.

Other members of the council include DBC News Editor Loton Ekram, Ekattor TV Head of News   Shafik Ahmed, Boishakhi TV Head of News Ziaul Kabir Suman, Independent Television Chief News Editor Mostofa Akmal, Channel Nine Executive Editor Md. Farhadul Islam Farid, GTV Head of News Gawsul Azam Bipu and Desh TV Head of News and Executive Director Mohi Uddin.

According to stakeholders, the newly formed council is expected to play a significant role in improving the quality of television journalism and safeguarding the professional interests of those working in the sector.
