Police Week 2026 ends with strong pledge to ensure smart, people-centric policing

DHAKA, May 13, 2026 — The Police Week 2026 concluded today with Bangladesh Police renewing its commitment to building a modern, technology-driven and people-centric force capable of meeting evolving public safety challenges.

Held under the slogan “My Police, My Country, Bangladesh First,” the four-day programme featured a series of interactive sessions, strategic discussions and ceremonial events focused on strengthening professionalism, public trust and service delivery.

The week ended in an energetic and optimistic atmosphere, reinforcing Bangladesh Police’s vision of a professional, humane and citizen-focused force committed to ensuring public safety and the rule of law.
The final day concluded with a conference between retired and serving police officials, where former officers shared insights and experiences from their careers while serving members discussed future priorities, including modernization, professional excellence and expanding community-oriented policing initiatives.

Throughout the week, senior police officials and policymakers held extensive discussions on key issues such as law and order, crime prevention, cyber security, anti-narcotics operations, traffic management, community policing and improving citizen services.

A major focus of the discussions was enhancing public confidence in policing through greater engagement, accountability and the wider use of technology in law enforcement.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the event on May 10 by inspecting the annual police parade and addressing police personnel with strategic directives for the future of policing in Bangladesh.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and other cabinet members also emphasized the need for a skilled, efficient and service-oriented police force aligned with the demands of a rapidly changing society.

Several conferences between the Inspector General of Police and field-level officers were also held during the week, where officers from across the country presented practical recommendations on operational challenges, technological advancement, capacity building and improving public service delivery.

Officials said the active participation of field-level officers made the sessions more dynamic, solution-oriented and reflective of ground realities.
