MYMENSINGH, May 12, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today urged people to take part in maintaining the continuity of development activities.

He said, "The current government is working consistently to deliver the benefits of development to even the remotest areas of the country. The implementation of the canal re-excavation project will improve the drainage system, reduce waterlogging and play a positive role in increasing agricultural production across the country."

The state minister made the remarks while inaugurating two separate development projects in Tarakanda and Haluaghat upazilas of the district.

Yasser Khan Choudhury also called upon local residents to remain conscious and responsible in protecting and preserving the development projects.

He said, "The government is excavating canals in the interest of the people. But if the canals become filled up again, the benefits of these projects will be lost. Therefore, local people must also come forward to preserve the canals."

The state minister further said that, in line with electoral pledges, multiple development projects have been undertaken in the Tarakanda-Phulpur area, including the construction of a mini stadium, development of hospital infrastructure and repair of roads.

He noted that implementation of these projects would improve the overall quality of life in the area.

At the beginning of the day, the state minister inaugurated canal re-excavation work in Rampur Union under Tarakanda Upazila.

Later, he laid the foundation stone of the Borabila-Bahirshimul road development project in the Borabila area of Amtala Union No. 1 under Haluaghat Upazila.
