DHAKA, 11 May 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam has issued a strict warning that the license of any primary collection service provider (PCSP) contractors will be cancelled if more than the fixed Taka 100 monthly waste collection fee is charged from households.
He made this warning today at a discussion with PCSPs at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium in the capital.
Various directives were given on ensuring rapid removal of sacrificial animal waste during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha and maintaining regular waste management in the city.
The administrator expressed anger over irregularities in waste management, excessive billing, and public suffering.
He said complaints are being received from different parts of the city that many organizations are charging more than the fixed rate and are not collecting daily waste every day.
“This will not be tolerated in any way. A maximum of Taka 100 per month can be collected from each flat or household, and it must be collected through an official receipt,” he said.
Instructions were given that no garbage should be left accumulated in any area.
As part of special cleanliness preparations ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the administrator announced that during the three days of Eid, no cleanliness workers or officials will be allowed to take leave.
Workers must remain in the field until every ward is fully cleared of waste, he said.
Salam also said that PCSP contractors must be directly present in the field to supervise operations and ensure sufficient vans and manpower so that sacrificial waste can be removed as quickly as possible.
Instructions were also given to maintain friendly behavior with citizens and ensure that sanitation workers perform duties in clean uniforms.
Taking a strict stance on dumping waste on roads, drains, or canals, the administrator said that if any household is found disposing of waste outside designated places, mobile courts will be conducted against them.
“Waste management is not just a service; it is a humanitarian and social responsibility. If contract conditions are violated, DSCC will take strict legal action,” he said.
Senior DSCC officials and representatives of various primary waste collection organizations were present at the meeting.
